A Culture of Sustainability & Community Support

Helping people and the planet

45PK2While we’re among the largest companies in our industry, our leadership doesn’t stop at innovative packaging. We believe it’s also our responsibility to spearhead important endeavors that affect us all. This is reflected by our culture of sustainability that encourages our company, employees and business partners to operate in environmentally-responsible ways. We actively seek to identify and implement a wide range of practices – both big and small – that benefit the environment.

But our commitment to positive change doesn’t stop with green initiatives. We also want the people in our local communities to flourish, and are privileged to help support the advancement of today’s youth, families in need and the vision impaired.

We hope you will read more about our sustainability and community support endeavors, and perhaps even pledge your own involvement to a greener planet and healthier community.

A company-wide commitment

As a company with manufacturing plants nationwide, its own private fleet and a coast-to-coast sales team, we’ve explored numerous ways to drive positive environmental change. These initiatives touch nearly every aspect of our business in some way. Here’s an overview of the key contributing factors or, for more in-depth detail, you can visit our Sustainability or Product pages.

Sustainable business practices

  • Corporate practices – such as our hybrid vehicle sales fleet, facility “dashboards” to track energy use, recycling partnerships and waste reduction activities
  • Manufacturing – including new energy-efficient molding machines, and the collection and recycling of corrugate, oils, solvents, metal scrap, resin scrap and batteries
  • Sourcing – utilizing local sourcing, suppliers who adhere to sustainable practices, and inks/colorants that are free of heavy metals
  • Freightlines/Shipping – including backhaul services that eliminate extra trucks/emissions and reduction of pallet usage via reconfigured pack out quantities and a pallet return program
  • Products – including multiple customer options such as recycled materials and source-reduced alternatives

From our backyard to around the world

For Letica, corporate giving starts in our own home town with Leader Dogs for the Blind. We view the organization as a kindred spirit, and are honored to support their fine work which enhances the independence and mobility of the visually impaired. Like us, Leader Dogs for the Blind began and has remained in Rochester, Michigan for its entire existence. Similarly, it was privately founded by a small group of people who through their commitment and passion grew to proudly serve clients all around the world.

Whether through monetary contributions or participation in raffles, bakes sales, breakfasts or the ever-popular “$1 jean’s day,” Letica and its employees are happy to lend a hand. And seeing the Leader Dog puppies in training is all that’s needed to keep us motivated.

Leader Dog operates entirely on donated funds, without any government or United Way funding. To learn more about Leader Dogs for the Blind, or how to donate, please visit www.leaderdog.org

Letica Freightlines also provides us the unique opportunity to assist in times of national or oversees natural disasters. Such was the case with the devastating Oklahoma tornados, Superstorm Sandy and Hurricane Katrina. Not only do we provide containers for use in clean up and recovery, but Letica Freightline dispatchers work closely with community volunteer groups to coordinate and transport a variety of life-sustaining supplies and goods to those who need them most.
